The Scots perform

The Theatre Royal in Glasgow, Scotland, is the setting for "Highland Heartbeat" (8 p.m., KTCA, Ch. 2), a PBS special featuring a gathering of singers including Fiona Kennedy, Jim Malcolm, Jillian Isbister, Maureen McMullan, Daisy Chute and Darren Maclean performing a combination of traditional songs of Scotland and pop hits. The special also features Emmy-winning actor Brian Cox reading works by Robert Burns.

Dusting off the diamonds

The baseball season will be here soon, so Turner Classic Movies is presenting a bit of diamond action. "The Stratton Story" (11 a.m., TMC), the 1949 bio-pic of Chicago White Sox pitcher Monty Stratton, features Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson. "It Happens Every Spring" (1 p.m., TMC), also from 1949, stars Ray Milland as a scientist who exploits his discovery of a fluid causing baseballs to repel wood. "Bang the Drum Slowly" (2:30 p.m., TMC), the 1973 movie starring Michael Moriarty and Robert de Niro, chronicles the relationship between a pitcher and catcher coping with the latter's terminal illness. And Robert Redford and Glenn Close star in the 1984 movie "The Natural" (4:30 p.m., TMC), about a middle-aged player who takes his losing team to the top
